Short answer: the Elica Flat FL 900 MAX (₹17,249) is my best all round chimney for a 90 cm hob. The Elica WDFL 600 BLDC (₹14,999) is the best 60 cm pick, and the Beyond Cube BLDC 60 (₹12,799) is the one to buy if you cannot run a duct.
I built this ranking from the numbers first. For each chimney I compared the maker’s specs, claimed suction, motor type, filter type, warranty and live Amazon.in and Flipkart prices. I have not tested these chimneys myself, and I could not find a lab test for chimney suction in India, so suction and noise are maker claims throughout this guide.
Prices were seen on 29 October 2026 and they move often, so use the buy box under each review. A chimney also needs installation, which the sticker price usually leaves out. On a tighter budget, read our best chimney under 15000 guide.

Read review
If none of these rows sounds like you, read on. A short guide to what matters comes first, then the ranking, the price list and the full reviews.
What matters
What to know before you buy a kitchen chimney
Hood width
The hood should be at least as wide as your hob. Use 60 cm for 2 to 3 burners and 90 cm for 3 to 5.
Suction
Stated suction is measured in free air, so real output is lower once the chimney is ducted. Look for 1000+ for light cooking and 1200+ for frying.
Duct
A short, straight, 6 inch duct with few bends works best. Every bend and extra metre cuts airflow.
Filter type
Filterless units melt oil into a tray. Baffle units use washable metal filters. Neither is “no cleaning”.
Warranty
Check the motor warranty and the product warranty separately. They cover different parts.
Service
Pick the brand that has a service centre in your city, not the longest warranty on paper.
The ranking
How I ranked these chimneys
I ranked for a typical Indian kitchen with daily frying, using four things in this order: rated suction against hood size, motor and filter design, warranty terms, and price against the rest of the list. I did not use star ratings or review counts. Where two chimneys are different sizes, I compare specs and price only and say so.
Two honest limits. First, no independent lab data exists for chimney suction or noise, so I could not verify any claim. Second, I could not find service centre data by pincode, so I did not score service. That is why this guide gives no numeric scores, and why I mark a pick as “contested” where the evidence is mixed.
See why each pick ranks where it does
| # | Chimney | Why it ranks above the next |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Elica Flat FL 900 MAX 90 | 1600 against 1500 m³/hr, about ₹2,200 cheaper, and longer product and motor cover than the Faber Coral 90. |
| 2 | Faber Coral BLDC 90-T | A 90 cm BLDC with a wide service network and the same price on both marketplaces. |
| 3 | Elica WDFL 600 BLDC | A 15 year motor warranty and a 48 dB claim against the Whirlpool’s 11 years and 58 dB. |
| 4 | Whirlpool CGFL PRO 604 | 1600 m³/hr with 5 year cover and free installation, for less than most BLDC picks above it. |
| 5 | Elica WD TBF HAC 90 | Longer cover and a baffle design for oily cooking, for ₹4,800 more than the Faber 1200 line. |
| 6 | Faber Autoclean Curved | Ducted auto clean at about ₹11,000, against about ₹12,800 for the ductless Cube. |
| 7 | Beyond Cube BLDC 60 | The only native ductless pick, with auto clean and a ₹299 install fee, for about ₹5,500 more than the Pluto. |
| 8 | Faber Pluto Sensor TC 60 | ₹17,700 less than the premium Elica and the only cheap pick with independent backing. |
| 9 | Elica SPT MAX PRO PLUS 90 | Same headline as number 1 for about ₹7,700 more, and no independent source. |
This order is my editorial judgement from maker specs and live prices on 29 Oct 2026. It is not a lab result.

Best Overall
1. Elica Flat FL 900 MAX BLDC 90 cm Filterless Chimney

90 cm · 1600 m³/hr claimed · BLDC motor · Filterless heat auto clean · 5 yr product + 15 yr motor
Best for
✓ Wide hobs with 3 to 5 burners
✓ Daily frying and tadka
✓ Buyers who want long cover on a 90 cm BLDC
Not ideal for
– Flats where a duct is not possible
– Buyers who put service reach above everything
– Small 2 burner hobs (a 60 cm unit costs less)
Verdict: The strongest mix of size, rated suction and warranty at ₹17,249. It is the cheapest 1600 m³/hr BLDC 90 cm chimney in my research.

What I like
+ 1600 m³/hr claimed on a 90 cm hood
+ BLDC motor
+ 5 year product and 15 year motor warranty stated
+ Costs about ₹2,200 less than the Faber Coral 90
What I don’t like
– Comments on Elica service are mixed
– Suction is a maker claim, not a lab number
– Needs a duct and professional installation
Full review
The Flat FL 900 MAX is a 90 cm filterless chimney. Instead of baffle or mesh filters, it has a heat based auto clean that melts oil into a collector tray.
Suction and size. Elica states 1600 m³/hr, a BLDC motor and a full grill. A 90 cm hood covers 3 to 5 burners, so it suits the usual Indian four burner hob with room to spare.
Warranty. The Amazon page says 5 years on the product and 15 years on the motor. Read the fine print for what is excluded, because motor warranties cover the motor only, not the board, glass or switches.
Evidence note. I could not read Elica official pages, so every Elica number here comes from the marketplace page. The only air quality comparison I found had a 60 cm Elica filterless unit finishing behind cheaper Faber units, and comments on Elica service are mixed. I rank this one first on specs and price, and I say plainly that proof of real world performance is thin.
Against the Faber Coral 90. The Elica is rated 1600 against 1500 m³/hr, costs about ₹2,200 less and has longer product and motor cover. The Faber is the pick if a bigger service network matters more.

Best Faber 90 cm
2. Faber Coral BLDC 90-T 90 cm Filterless Chimney

90 cm · 1500 m³/hr claimed · BLDC motor · Filterless auto clean · 2 yr product + 12 yr motor
Best for
✓ 90 cm buyers who want a big service network
✓ Quiet running (the maker page states 44 dB)
✓ Buyers who like a well known brand
Not ideal for
– Buyers on a tight budget
– People who want the longest product cover
– Anyone who needs a duct free setup
Verdict: A solid 90 cm BLDC from a brand with wide service reach, at ₹19,490. It costs more than the Elica for slightly lower rated suction.

What I like
+ BLDC motor with a 12 year motor warranty
+ Same price on Amazon and Flipkart
+ Faber has a wide service network
+ Built in oil collector
What I don’t like
– Costs more than the Elica Flat FL 900 MAX
– Only 2 years on the product
– Noise is stated as 44 dB on one page and 58 dB on another
Full review
The Coral BLDC 90-T is a T shaped 90 cm hood with a filterless, auto clean design and a built in oil collector.
Suction and noise. Faber states 1500 m³/hr and a BLDC motor. The noise figure is stated as 44 dB on the Flipkart page and 58 dB on the Amazon spec table, so I treat both as unverified.
Warranty. It carries 2 years on the product and 12 years on the motor. That is shorter than the Elica pair on product cover.
Evidence note. Faber BLDC models in the Coral and Iris family come up often in buying guides, but I found no measured test of the Coral itself. It is a pick on specs, brand reach and a consistent price on both marketplaces.
Against the Elica Flat FL 900 MAX. You pay about ₹2,200 more for 100 m³/hr less rated suction and 3 fewer years of product cover. What you get in return is Faber service reach and a calmer noise claim.

3. Elica WDFL 600 BLDC 60 cm Filterless Chimney

60 cm · 1500 m³/hr claimed · BLDC motor · Filterless heat auto clean · 5 yr product + 15 yr motor
Best for
✓ 2 to 3 burner 60 cm hobs
✓ Buyers who want BLDC and long cover near ₹15,000
✓ Small and medium kitchens
Not ideal for
– Four burner hobs that sit wide apart
– Flats with no duct route
– Buyers who want proof of service quality
Verdict: The best 60 cm all rounder at ₹14,999: BLDC, 5 year product cover and a 15 year motor warranty on the page.

What I like
+ BLDC motor
+ 5 year product cover on the page
+ 15 year motor warranty stated
+ 48 dB stated noise
What I don’t like
– Same Elica service concerns as the 90 cm models
– On the Amazon price it sits only ₹1 under ₹15,000
– Flipkart sells a sibling with a different model code
Full review
The WDFL 600 BLDC is a 60 cm wall mount hood with a filterless design and heat auto clean.
Suction and size. The page says 1500 m³/hr with a BLDC motor. A 60 cm hood matches a 2 to 3 burner hob. For a four burner hob, a 90 cm hood is the safer size.
Warranty. 5 years on the product and 15 years on the motor are stated. This is the longest cover I found at this price.
Evidence note. This is the model type that finished behind cheaper Faber units in the one air quality comparison I found. That was a single kitchen with unpublished duct details, so it cannot rank anything, but it is the reason I call Elica picks contested. Elica official specs were not readable.
Against the Whirlpool CGFL PRO 604. The Elica has a longer motor warranty (15 against 11 years) and a lower noise claim. The Whirlpool claims 1600 m³/hr and is cheaper on Flipkart.

4. Whirlpool CGFL PRO 604 HAC 60 cm Filterless Chimney

Best for
✓ 60 cm buyers who want the highest suction claim
✓ Buyers who want 5 year product cover
✓ Shoppers who compare Amazon and Flipkart prices
Not ideal for
– Quiet kitchens (58 dB is stated)
– Buyers who want the longest motor cover
– Anyone who needs stock certainty
Verdict: A 1600 m³/hr 60 cm chimney with 5 year product cover and free installation, at ₹12,590 on both Amazon and Flipkart.

What I like
+ 1600 m³/hr claimed on a 60 cm hood
+ 5 years on product, PCB, glass and rotor per the page
+ Same price on Amazon and Flipkart
+ Whirlpool is a known appliance brand
What I don’t like
– 58 dB stated noise
– 11 year motor warranty is shorter than Elica
– The page does not state a BLDC motor
Full review
The CGFL PRO 604 is Whirlpool’s 60 cm filterless hood with heat auto clean and free standard installation.
Suction and noise. The page claims 1600 m³/hr. Noise is stated at 58 dB, which is a number I see repeated across many chimney pages, so I treat it as a placeholder.
Warranty. It states 5 years on the product, PCB, glass and rotor, plus 11 years on the motor.
Evidence note. Only two buying guides I found name this family, and I found no measured test. I rank it on specs, warranty and price.
Against the Elica WD TBF HAC 90. They are different sizes and filter types, so this is a spec and price comparison. The Whirlpool gives 1600 m³/hr on a 60 cm hood for about ₹3,200 less, but the page does not state a BLDC motor.

Best Baffle Filter
5. Elica WD TBF HAC 90 cm Baffle Filter Chimney

90 cm · 1425 to 1500 m³/hr · Baffle filter with heat auto clean · 5 yr product + 15 yr motor
Best for
✓ Heavy frying and non veg cooking
✓ 90 cm hobs with several burners
✓ Buyers who do not mind washing baffles
Not ideal for
– Buyers who want the quietest unit
– Anyone who hates manual cleaning
– Shoppers who need a BLDC motor
Verdict: The baffle filter pick for oily cooking, at ₹15,790. It asks for a tray clean every few weeks.

What I like
+ Baffle design that guides prefer for heavy oil
+ 5 year product and 15 year motor cover
+ 90 cm hood
+ Heat auto clean option
What I don’t like
– No BLDC motor
– 58 dB stated
– Costs about ₹4,800 more than the Faber 1200 line
– The title says 1500 but the spec table says 1425 m³/hr
Full review
The WD TBF HAC 90 is a 90 cm hood with baffle filters and a heat auto clean mode.
Suction. The page title says 1500 m³/hr and the spec table says 1425. I could not settle which is right, so I quote both.
Why baffle. Buying guides lean towards baffle filters for heavy frying, because the filters are metal and can be washed. You wash the baffles and empty the oil tray about every 3 to 4 weeks.
Warranty. It states 5 years on the product and 15 years on the motor.
Against the Faber 1200 line. The Elica gives a larger suction number, longer cover and a baffle design for ₹4,800 more. It is not BLDC and needs manual washing.

Best Budget Auto Clean
6. Faber Autoclean Curved 1200 m³/hr Filterless Chimney (60 and 90 cm)

60 or 90 cm · 1200 m³/hr claimed · Filterless auto clean · 2 yr product + 8 yr motor
Best for
✓ Budget buyers who want auto clean
✓ 2 to 3 burner hobs (60 cm) or 3 to 4 burners (90 cm)
✓ First time chimney buyers
Not ideal for
– Buyers who want BLDC
– People who want the longest cover
– Very heavy frying households
Verdict: The cheapest way into a filterless auto clean chimney, at ₹10,990 for either size on Amazon.

+ Both 60 and 90 cm at the same price on Amazon
+ Built in oil collector
+ Faber service reach
What I don’t like
– No BLDC motor
– 2 year product and 8 year motor cover
– 59 dB stated noise
– Flipkart sells it as “Venice”, and I could not confirm it is the same chassis
Full review
Faber’s Autoclean Curved is a 1200 m³/hr filterless hood sold in 60 and 90 cm.
Suction. 1200 m³/hr is the lowest claim among my filterless picks. For a 60 cm hob and light to medium cooking it is enough on paper. For a 90 cm hob with daily frying I would look at the picks above.
Warranty. 2 years on the product and 8 years on the motor are stated.
Evidence note. In the one air quality comparison I found, a Faber 1200 unit cleared the air faster than several units rated 1450 to 1700 m³/hr. That is a single kitchen, so I use it only as a reason not to chase the biggest number. Some reports mention motor or board faults on Faber’s Venice line, and I could not confirm whether it matches this model.
Against the Beyond Cube BLDC 60. This one is ducted, so heat and steam leave the kitchen, and it costs about ₹1,800 less. The Cube needs no duct at all.
Key specs

Best Ductless
7. Beyond Cube BLDC 60 Ductless Chimney

60 cm · 1500 to 1600 m³/hr claimed · BLDC · Plug and play ductless (carbon + baffle) · 45 dB official
Best for
✓ Flats and rentals where ducting is not allowed
✓ Buyers who want an easy install
✓ Small kitchens with light to medium cooking
Not ideal for
– Heavy frying households
– Buyers with a 90 cm hob (no native 90 cm ductless found)
– Anyone who wants zero running cost
Verdict: The only native ductless pick I trust, at ₹12,799 on Amazon. It is the one to buy if a duct is not possible.

What I like
+ No duct or wall cutting
+ Official install price of ₹299 plus GST
+ Heat based auto clean (official: under 10 minutes)
+ 45 dB claimed on the official page
What I don’t like
– Recirculates air, so heat and steam stay in the kitchen
– Carbon filter replacement costs money
– 60 cm only
– Amazon price is far above the Flipkart price
Full review
Beyond’s Cube is a plug and play chimney that cleans air through a carbon filter and baffle, then pushes it back into the room.
Suction and noise. Beyond’s page states 1600 m³/hr and 45 dB. Amazon and Flipkart list 1500 m³/hr and 46 dB. All are maker claims.
Running cost. The official page states the filter at about ₹2,000 including installation, and about 4 years of rated life on the Cube Pro line. Plan for that.
Price spread. The official site shows ₹16,499, Amazon and Flipkart both showed ₹12,799. Check all three before you buy.
Evidence note. One independent run saw the air clear well with no heat rise, while a 30 day log saw the air quality slowly get worse. Both are single kitchens. A ductless chimney is a compromise, and I only recommend it where a duct is impossible.
Against the Faber Pluto 60. The Cube has auto clean, no duct and a lower noise claim. It costs about ₹5,500 more on Amazon and keeps heat in the kitchen.

✓ Light cooking on a tight budget
✓ Buyers who accept manual cleaning
Not ideal for
– Heavy frying
– Four burner hobs
– Buyers who want auto clean
Verdict: The cheapest ducted chimney I would buy, at ₹7,290 on both marketplaces. You give up suction and auto clean.

+ 12 year motor warranty stated
+ Same price on Amazon and Flipkart
What I don’t like
– 1000 m³/hr just meets the 60 cm minimum
– No auto clean
– 1 year product warranty
– The page does not state a BLDC motor
Full review
The Pluto Sensor TC is a 60 cm baffle filter hood with touch control.
Suction. It claims 1000 m³/hr, which is the lowest number on my list. That is the figure guides use as the floor for regular cooking in a 60 cm kitchen.
Cleaning. There is no auto clean. You wash the baffle filters and empty the tray by hand.
Variants. Amazon states two Pluto 60 models. I am recommending the Sensor TC, code 320.0757.569. Check the code before you order.
Evidence note. A Faber 60 cm baffle with a panel was the winner of one cheap group in an independent air quality run. The model was not named aloud, so I cannot say it is this one.
Against the Elica SPT MAX PRO PLUS 90. It costs about ₹17,700 less and has independent backing, while the Elica has none. It is also far smaller in suction and has no auto clean.

Best for
✓ Buyers who want the top Elica 90 cm line

– Buyers who want proof of quality
– Quiet kitchens (58 dB stated)
Verdict: Same headline specs as my number 1, for about ₹7,700 more at ₹24,990. Buy it for the look, not for extra performance.

The SPT MAX PRO PLUS FL 90 BLDC is Elica’s premium 90 cm filterless hood.
What you get. The page headline matches the Flat FL 900 MAX: 1600 m³/hr, BLDC, 5 year product and 15 year motor cover.
Evidence note. The premium tier has the thinnest evidence of all. I found no independent test of any chimney above ₹25,000 and none of this one. It is a price tier, not a proven quality tier.
Who should pick it. If you like the design and the price does not hurt, it is a fine chimney on paper. If you want the best use of money, buy number 1.

Filter type
Auto clean vs baffle filter chimney
Auto clean chimneys here are filterless. Heat warms the oil so it runs into a collection tray, and you empty the tray. Baffle chimneys use stacked metal plates that you take out and wash. Both work. The real question is how much cleaning you will actually do.
| Auto clean (filterless) | Baffle filter | |
|---|---|---|
| How it cleans | Heat melts oil into a tray | You wash metal baffles by hand |
| Upkeep | Run the cycle, empty the tray, and wipe the grill now and then | Wash baffles and empty the tray about every 3 to 4 weeks |
| Price | Mostly ₹11,000 and up in this list | From about ₹7,000 |
| Best for | Buyers who hate scrubbing and cook moderately | Heavy frying and buyers who do not mind washing |
| Catch | Not “cleaning free”. Wipe the grill and deep clean now and then | Manual work. Forget it and suction drops |
A heat auto clean cycle usually starts after about 30 hours of use, and guides suggest a professional deep clean every 6 to 12 months at roughly ₹500 to ₹700. Check your model manual.
Ducted or ductless
Ductless chimney: does it work in an Indian kitchen?
A ducted chimney pulls smoke, heat and steam out of the house. A ductless chimney passes air through a carbon filter and sends it back into the room. That removes smoke and some smell, but heat and steam stay.
My rule is simple. If you can run a duct, do it. If you cannot, because of a rented flat or a no drilling rule, buy a native ductless unit like the Beyond Cube BLDC 60 Ductless Chimney. I do not recommend turning a ducted chimney into a ductless one with a conversion kit. Buying guides warn against it, because charcoal filters need frequent replacement and can be hard to find. I found no native 90 cm ductless chimney, so a wide hob in a flat is a real gap.
Size guide
60 cm or 90 cm: which chimney size do you need?
| 60 cm | 90 cm | |
|---|---|---|
| Hob | 2 to 3 burners | 3 to 5 burners, or burners spread wide |
| Cooking | Light to moderate | Daily frying and heavy cooking |
| Price | Lower. Starts near ₹7,000 | Higher. Mostly ₹15,000 to ₹24,000 here |
| Rule | Never smaller than the hob | Safer if the hob is wide or you fry a lot |
The hood must be at least as wide as the hob. If your hob has four burners and you can fit 90 cm, take it, because changing the duct later costs more. Mount the chimney about 650 to 750 mm (26 to 30 inches) above a gas hob, and keep the duct to 6 inch pipe, around 12 feet and no more than 2 bends.
Brands
Best kitchen chimney brands in India
Here is how the brands in this guide compare on what the evidence actually shows.
| Brand | What stands out | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Elica | Long warranty on paper (5 year product, 15 year motor) and strong specs on the Flat and WD lines | Mixed comments on service, and I could not read Elica’s official pages |
| Faber | The widest service reach in this list, and Coral, Trendy and Pluto lines | Motor warranty is 8 years on most filterless lines and 12 on others. Some reports of faults on the Venice line |
| Whirlpool | 5 year product cover on the CGFL line | Fewer mentions in guides, and low stock |
| Beyond | The only native ductless chimney I trust, and clear official install pricing | A newer service network and a carbon filter to replace |
| Hindware | BLDC 90 models at low Flipkart prices | Louder noise claims on many pages, and I could not find an official page for the Regina |
| Glen and Kaff | Often recommended in lists | Most Glen models list 1 year product cover, and Kaff’s warranty needs registration within 30 days. I left both out |
Indian kitchens
Best chimney for an Indian kitchen with heavy frying
Indian cooking makes oil smoke, strong smell and steam, all at once. For that I would put the money in this order: a wide hood, a short straight duct, a unit rated for at least 1200 m³/hr, then the filter type.
Go wide
A 90 cm hood captures more smoke from a four burner hob than a 60 cm one.
Keep the duct short
Fewer bends and a 6 inch pipe protect your suction. A 4 inch pipe cuts airflow and adds noise.
Rate it right
Look for 1200+ for frying. Add about 200 more for a high rise or a long duct.
Choose baffle for oil
Many guides prefer washable baffles for very oily cooking, if you will wash them.
Run it after cooking
Leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes after you finish, and wipe the hob.
Avoid ductless for frying
Heat and steam stay in the room, so use ducted if you fry daily.
For daily frying on a 90 cm hob, I would start with the Elica Flat FL 900 MAX BLDC 90 cm Filterless Chimney or the Elica WD TBF HAC 90 cm Baffle Filter Chimney if you prefer baffles.
Installation
Chimney installation cost and ducting
The price on the page is usually the machine only. A realistic budget is ₹600 to ₹1,500 for basic installation, plus the pipe and cowl, which are often sold separately. If the installer has to drill through a wall, the total can reach ₹4,000 to ₹5,000. Beyond states ₹299 plus GST for its ductless unit.
Two small tips. Inspect the chimney within a week of delivery, so you can report transit damage. And do not pay an advance by UPI to a stranger who calls to “book your installation”. Brand guides warn about this scam.
Warranty check
How long are you covered?
Chimney warranties come in two parts. The motor warranty covers the motor only. The product warranty covers the body, glass, board and switches, and it is often only 1 to 2 years. Here is what each page says.
Warranty terms are from the marketplace pages and change by seller. Read the exclusions: grease jamming the motor, voltage surges and wrong installation are commonly excluded.
Buying guide
How to choose a kitchen chimney: a short checklist
1. Measure the hob
Pick a hood at least as wide as the hob.
2. Check the duct route
Count bends and measure the distance to the outside wall.
3. Pick the suction
1000+ for light cooking, 1200+ for frying.
4. Pick the filter
Filterless if you hate scrubbing, baffle if you fry a lot and will wash.
5. Read the warranty
Separate motor from product cover and note the exclusions.
6. Check service
Make sure the brand has a service centre in your city.

Skipped questions
Questions other chimney guides skip
1 · Do filterless chimneys really stay clean?
Not completely. Filterless means no filter to wash, not no cleaning. Wipe the grill about every 3 months, empty the oil tray when it fills, and plan a professional deep clean every 6 to 12 months. How fast oil builds up depends mostly on how much you fry.
2 · How much suction do I really need?
Stated suction is measured in free air. Once the chimney is ducted, brands themselves say real output can be much lower, for example a 1200 unit delivering about 800. For regular cooking aim for 1000+, and for frequent frying 1200+. Add about 200 for a high rise or a duct with many bends. Hood width and duct design matter as much as the number.
3 · Is a bigger suction number always better?
No. In the one air quality comparison I found, cheaper 1000 to 1200 m³/hr Faber units cleared the air faster than units rated 1450 to 1700 m³/hr. That was a single kitchen, so I do not treat it as proof. It is a reason to check the hood, the duct and the warranty before chasing the biggest number.
4 · Can I turn a ducted chimney into a ductless one?
Conversion kits exist, but guides warn against them. The charcoal filters need frequent replacement, and a long term user reports odour and greasy surfaces. If you cannot run a duct, buy a chimney that is ductless by design.
5 · Is BLDC worth the extra money?
It usually costs about ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 more. The sure benefit is lower noise at the same airflow and finer speed control. The claimed yearly savings are not backed by test data, so I would not pay a lot extra for the saving alone.
6 · What does a 15 year motor warranty cover?
Only the motor assembly. The board, sensors, glass and switches fall under the product warranty, which is often 1 to 2 years. Exclusions typically include grease jamming the motor, power surges, opening the sealed casing and wrong installation. Faults in boards and sensors are more common than motor failure.
7 · How loud is a chimney, really?
Nobody I found measured noise with a meter. Stated values range from 44 to 62 dB, and 58 dB appears on many pages, which looks like a default. Expect high speeds to be loud and speeds 2 to 4 to be fine for conversation.
8 · What will installation really cost?
Budget ₹1,500 to ₹5,000 on top of the price. Basic installation can start at ₹600 to ₹1,500, but pipe and cowl are often extra, and wall drilling adds more. Installers do not always do core cutting, so ask before booking.
9 · How do I check service in my city?
Before you buy, search for the brand’s service centre in your pincode and call the toll free number to ask about visit time and charges. Pick the brand with a centre in your city, not the longest warranty on paper.
10 · Are touch and gesture controls worth it?
They are a nice extra, but they are also a common failure point. Gesture sensors can miss, and some older family members find touch panels hard to use. If you want fewer problems, look for physical buttons or a remote.
Other chimneys I looked at
Glen models. Most list only 1 year product cover and 7 years on the motor, and service is reported to vary by city. They are popular, but I left them out on warranty.
Kaff. Official warranty needs registration within 30 days of purchase, and one air quality comparison placed a Kaff unit last in its price group. That is a single test, so the call is contested.
Livpure Fenix and Eterna. The Fenix 60 was unavailable on Amazon, and the Eterna states only 1 year product cover.
Faber Iris, Agile and Mercury. Similar to the Coral, but with an 8 year motor warranty on marketplaces (the official Iris page says 12), so I picked the Coral. Worth another look if you find a better price.
Convertible and plug and play kits. Guides warn against them, so I did not pick any.
Premium baffles above ₹22,000. They list only 1010 to 1425 m³/hr for a premium price, so I did not pick them.

Kitchen chimney FAQ
What is the best kitchen chimney in India?
For a 90 cm hob I rank the Elica Flat FL 900 MAX at ₹17,249 first, on 1600 m³/hr claimed suction, BLDC and 5 plus 15 years of cover. For a 60 cm hob the Elica WDFL 600 BLDC at ₹14,999 is my pick. All suction numbers are maker claims.
Which is better, a 60 cm or a 90 cm chimney?
Pick the hood that is at least as wide as your hob. A 60 cm hood suits 2 to 3 burners and light to moderate cooking. A 90 cm hood suits 3 to 5 burners and daily frying.
Is an auto clean chimney better than a baffle filter chimney?
Neither is better for everyone. Auto clean models melt oil into a tray, so there is no filter to scrub, but you still empty the tray and wipe the grill. Baffle models use washable metal filters that guides prefer for very oily cooking, and you wash them every 3 to 4 weeks.
How much does a good kitchen chimney cost in India?
Good models run from about ₹7,290 for a baffle 60 cm to ₹17,249 for a 90 cm BLDC. Budget another ₹1,500 to ₹5,000 for installation.
Does a ductless chimney work for Indian cooking?
It removes smoke and some smell, but heat and steam stay in the kitchen. I only recommend a native ductless chimney when a duct is not possible, and not for heavy daily frying.
Which chimney is best for heavy frying?
Choose a 90 cm hood rated 1200 m³/hr or more, ducted, with a short straight duct. A baffle model such as the Elica WD TBF HAC 90 or a filterless model such as the Elica Flat FL 900 MAX both fit.
How much suction does a chimney need?
About 1000 m³/hr for regular cooking and 1200 or more for frequent frying. Stated suction is measured in free air, so installed output is lower.
Is a BLDC chimney worth it?
It costs about ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 more and mainly gives lower noise and finer speed control. The claimed power savings are not backed by test data.
How often should I clean a kitchen chimney?
Empty the oil tray every 3 to 4 weeks for baffle models, run the auto clean cycle on filterless models as the manual says, and plan a professional deep clean every 6 to 12 months.
How much does chimney installation cost?
Basic installation is about ₹600 to ₹1,500, plus the pipe and cowl. Wall drilling can raise the total to ₹4,000 or ₹5,000. Beyond states ₹299 plus GST for its ductless unit.
Do I need a chimney if I have an exhaust fan?
A chimney is built for oil, smoke and heat from the hob, so it works better than a wall fan for Indian cooking. It does not remove a gas leak, so keep the kitchen ventilated.
Where should I buy a kitchen chimney?
Amazon.in and Flipkart both list most of these models. Prices were seen on 29 October 2026 and differ between sites by thousands for some models, so compare both buy boxes.
