Design & Build
On the design front, it looks same as previous Mi power bank 2, the only dimension is changed. The Mi power bank 2i has an aluminium body, that’s why it looks very premium and classy. The dark grey colour of this power bank also adds some extra stars on the design side. It feels solid in hand and doesn’t get scratched, even though it has a smooth aluminium finish. It’s not only good looking but build quality is also great. This type of premium look and a solid build quality that you don’t expect in power banks in this price range.
The Power bank has curved corners and 180° ergonomic arc design which provides a more secure hand grip. The smooth anodized finish creates a surface resistant to sweat, daily wear, and corrosion. It has a Mi branding on the front side. On the back side, you found SR rating info. There is input/output voltage info on the bottom side.
The MI power bank 2i has a two 2.4A(5.1V, 9V/12V15W MAX) USB output ports (fast charging), instead of one USB port in Previous 10000mAH Mi Power bank. There are 4 LED’s that will indicate the battery level charging indication. It also comes with 2.0A input port (5.0V2.0A 9V/12V18W) and power check button. Using power check button, you can check remaining power and on/off low power mode. You don’t need to on/off this power bank because it does automatically.
The best part, this power bank is very lightweight and compact, so you can easily carry in your jeans pocket. The Mi power bank 2i is just 14.2 mm thin and 242g bulky. It’s very slim and compact compared to other power banks and previous Mi power bank 2. There is no heating issue while charging or discharging. The dimension of Mi power bank 2i is just 2.8 inches wide, 5.7 inches long, and 0.55 inches depth.
Capacity & Charging
The Mi power bank 2i makes use of high-density Li-polymer batteries. It can deliver 6500 mAH capacity out of 10000 mAH, that’s really good compared to other 10000 mAH power banks at this price range. It can charge a phone with a 2300 mAh for almost 3 times. During the test, this power bank charges my Oneplus 3t(3400 mAH) for two times.
The best thing about Mi power bank 2i is that it supports fast charging. It supports fast charging in both ways. If you use a fast charger or turbocharger you can charge this power bank faster and if your smartphone supports fast charging then this power bank can fast charge.
It has a 2.0A (5.0V) input port. The charging time depends on your wall adapter. If you use a fast charger(2.0A or 2.1A), it takes around 6 hours in full charging. With 18W/2.4A charger, it takes only 3.5 to 4 hours in full charge. The Mi power bank 2i has a two 2.4A (5.1V, 9V/12V) output port so it can quickly charge your phone compared to others. It charges 3000 mAH battery powered phone within 1:30 hours. If your phone supports fast charging.
Again I say, there is no any heating issue while charging or discharging. The Mi power bank 2i also comes with low power charging mode, specially designed to charge low power devices such as a Bluetooth headset and Fitness tracker. To start low power mode press the power button for two times, once done you will find the LED blinking in the sequence which means the power bank is in low power mode.
The Mi Power bank 2 comes with lots of safety features.
- Temperature Resistance
- Protection from Short Circuit
- Output Overvoltage Protection
- Protection from Output Overcurrent
- Reset Mechanism
- Protection from Overcharge and Over-discharge
- Input Overvoltage Protection
- Protection from Incorrect Insertion
- PTC Protective Circuits for the Cell
Should you buy it?
I am very impressed with design and performance of this power bank. For its asking price – It has everything, what we required in our power bank. Currently, the Mi power bank 2i is only one power bank in this price range, who support fast charging. I would say this is simply the best 10000mAh power bank you can buy at this price point.
