The smartphone season is about to begin, and what better way to kick that off, other than a folding phone.
After tons of rumors and leaks around it, Samsung has finally announced their most awaited foldable smartphone, Galaxy Z Fold 3. Samsung removed the curtains from this announcement during the Galaxy Unpacked Event organized today. The new Samsung foldable smartphone is an upgraded version of Fold 2 in various aspects, and most importantly, it’s the first smartphone with an under-display camera (UDC) that is going to be launched under the Samsung brand name. So, before getting into the pricing and availability of this new Samsung foldable device, let’s first check out its mind-blowing features.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 Features
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is its third release in the foldable series of Samsung, and it tends to offer various new features in the foldable phone segment, with under-display camera and water resistance feature are the most prominent ones.
To begin with, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 features a 6.2-inch AMOLED cover display, along with a resolution of 2268x832p. The display has the back of HDR10+ and a 120 Hz refresh rate. To protect the smartphone from unintentional falls, it has been given the Gorilla Glass Victus protection on the top.
After unfolding the smartphone, you will be presented with a 7.6 inch AMOLED display, with the same refresh rate but a resolution of 2208x1768p. It also has the protection of Gorilla Glass Victus and the back of HDR10+. Moreover, the smartphone also offers 16 million colors to enhance your viewing experience.
Now, coming to the in-talk aspect of the smartphone, i.e. its front camera. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 features an under-the-display front camera to provide the smartphone a completely bezel-free look. Xiaomi also used the under-display feature in their latest Mi Mix 4, however, the Z Fold 3 is the first smartphone under the Samsung brand name that will feature the under-display camera.
With all these, it’s quite clear that we won’t notice any notch, punch hole cutouts, or even bezels in this upcoming Samsung smartphone, as everything will be inside the 7.6 inch AMOLED panel. From a wider look, it’s almost impossible to locate the under-display front camera, however, if looked closely from near, anyone can easily recognize the hidden 4 Megapixel camera under the display panel.
Now, if talk about the back camera, the Samsung smartphone features a 12+12+12 MP triple camera setup at the back. First with f/1.8 is the primary sensor, the second with f/2.2 will help in taking ultrawide shots, whereas, the last 12 MP with f/2.4 aperture is a telephoto lens which will help in taking detailed images. Moreover, you get the support of Optical Image Stabilization in both primary and telephoto lens.
Now, if we talk about the powerhouse, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 runs on Snapdragon 888 SoC that has the back of Adreno 660 GPU to offer the best gaming performance. In the storage segment, the smartphone has 12GB RAM, 256GB ROM, along with UFS 3.1 storage support.
Lastly, to offer non-stop entertainment, Galaxy Z Fold 3 comes along with a 4400 mAh battery with 25 W fast charging support. This smartphone also gives you access to reverse charging and Qi Wireless charging. Moreover, it is compatible with Galaxy Buds, Galaxy Watch, and many other Galaxy products.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 Other Features, and Pricing
Coming to another significant feature of the device, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 offers IPX8 water resistance. The IPX8 rating means that the smartphone can easily deal with 1 meter of water pressure for almost 30 minutes. This is a very significant thing to achieve in a foldable phone as they come along with a number of holes, hinges, and many other vacant spaces through which water can easily get inside the smartphone. So, the IPX8 will be the most prominent reason because of which customers will fight for this smartphone.
As Samsung has not launched many Galaxy Note devices this year, they have given the S Pen feature in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. In fact, we will fitness a completely new edition of S Pen in the Z Fold 3 dubbed S Pen Fold Edition and S Pen Pro. The Fold Edition will only work with Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, whereas, the S Pen Pro will be compatible with all the Samsung devices that support S Pen.
Lastly, if we talk about the audio feature and connectivity options, the smartphone features stereo speakers, dual 5G support, Bluetooth v5.2 Wi-Fi 6, and GPS. The smartphone comes with Android 11 out of the box and will be running on the Samsung latest One UI 3.1.
