Asus ROG Phone 5s Series Unveiled With 5G Enabled Snapdragon 888+ Chipset, and Highest Touch Sampling Rate

Asus has disclosed their new gaming beasts – vanilla Asus ROG Phone 5s, and Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro. Both the gaming smartphones feature the latest 5G enabled Snapdragon 888+ processor and offer a 6.78-inch Samsung AMOLED E4 display. The Asus smartphones have a peak brightness of 1200 nits and come along with a 144 Hz refresh rate and 360 Hz touch sampling rate. For a lag-free gaming experience, the vanilla Asus ROG 5s can offer up to 18 GB LPDDR5 RAM support, whereas, the Asus ROG 5s Pro comes in only 18GB LPDDR5 RAM variant.

As of now, both the latest gaming smartphones from Asus have only been unveiled on their official website. Moreover, there aren’t any details available on the pricing and availability of both these new Asus smartphones. The ROG Vision rear matrix color display and the touch sensor on the back panel of ROG 5s Pro are the only difference in both these new Asus smartphones. Other than these, both smartphones are almost similar to each other in terms of specification.

Asus ROG Phone 5s, and Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro Features

As mentioned above, both the Asus gaming smartphones are almost identical to each other in terms of specifications, but still, here’s a quick look at the specs that they offer.

Both the Asus smartphones – Asus ROG Phone 5s, and Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro runs on the latest Snapdragon 888+ chipset, and for the best gaming visuals, the smartphones are powered by Adreno 660 GPU. The 5s is available in 3 LPDDR5 RAM variants – 12 GB, 16GB, and, 18GB. Whereas, the 5s Pro is only available in the 18 GB LPDDR5 RAM variant. In terms of storage, the Asus Phone ROG 5s offers UFS 3.1 storage and comes in 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB variants. Whereas, the Asus ROG 5s Pro offers UFS 3.1 storage too, but is only available in 512 GB variant. Both the smartphones come with Android 11 out-of-the-box and run on ROG UI.

Coming to the display, both the Asus smartphones feature a 6.78-inch full HD+ Samsung AMOLED E4 display that offers 1080×2448 pixels resolution and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Protection. They also have a peak brightness of 1200 nits and offer a 144 Hz refresh rate and 360 Hz touch sampling rate. For capturing moments, both the Asus smartphones have the same camera setup, i.e. a triple-rear camera setup at the back that features a 64-Megapixel primary shooter, a 13-Megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 5-Megapixel for macro shots. In front, both the smartphones feature a 24-Megapixel camera for beautiful selfies and Zoom calls.

For non-stop gaming marathons, both the smartphones come with 6000 mAh large batteries that have the back of 65 W fast charging. The charger can charge the smartphone from 0 to 100 in almost 1 hour. Now coming to the connectivity options offered by these smartphones, both features a dual-SIM 5G, and 4G LTE support, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac/ax, NFC, GLONASS, USB Type-C, in-display fingerprint scanner, gyroscope, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, an ultrasonic sensor for AirTrigger 5, grip press, e-compass, face recognition, and most important, 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Lastly, if we talk about the physical measurements, both the smartphone measures 173x77x9.90mm, and weighs 238 grams. The Asus ROG Phone 5s is available in two color variants, Phantom Black and Storm White. Whereas, the Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro is available in only one color variant, Sole Phantom Black.
