Methodology How Geekman tests products
How we test.
Every product on Geekman is used in real life before we say a word about it. Here is exactly how we turn two weeks of daily use into a verdict you can trust.

Verdicts: Buy, Consider, Skip
[ 01 ] The process
Four steps. Every product.
Whether we bought it or a brand sent it, the process is identical.
-
01
Unbox from retail packaging.
We check build, accessories, setup and the first-hour experience, the same as you would at home.
-
02
Make it a daily driver.
The product replaces what we normally use for one to two weeks: commutes, calls, workouts, work and binge sessions.
-
03
Test it against real rivals.
"Good" only means something relative to alternatives, so we compare against products at the same price, side by side.
-
04
Publish a clear verdict, then keep it current.
We say who should buy it, who should skip it and what to get instead, and we revisit guides when prices or models change.
[ 02 ] Category protocols
What we check, by category.
The core process stays the same. The tests change with the product.
Earbuds & headphones
ANC in real noise (fans, traffic, metro), battery on a loop at 50% volume, call recordings indoors and outdoors, latency in videos and games, fit over long sessions, app features and codec support.
Smartphones
Daily performance and gaming, camera in daylight, low light and video, battery across a normal day, display in sunlight, software, updates and bloatware.
Laptops
Real workloads for students, coders and creators, thermals and fan noise under load, battery during office use, keyboard, trackpad, display and port selection.
Smartwatches
Step, heart-rate and GPS readings checked against a phone and a reference device, battery in daily use, app quality, notifications and comfort while sleeping.
Power banks & chargers
Delivered capacity versus claimed, charging speed with popular phones and laptops, temperatures during fast charging, size and build.
Home appliances
Use in a real Indian home: noise, power consumption where measurable, everyday convenience, cleaning and maintenance, and after-sales network.
[ 03 ] Reading a verdict
Three words that matter.
Specs and scores help, but every review ends with one of three clear calls.
-
01
Buy.
Best in its price range for most people. We would recommend it to family.
-
02
Consider.
Great for a specific kind of buyer. We explain who, and who should look elsewhere.
-
03
Skip.
Better options exist at the same price. We name them.
[ 04 ] What we never do
The lines we don’t cross.
No spec-sheet reviews
If we haven’t used it, we don’t review it.
No pre-approved verdicts
Brands never see or approve our opinion before it goes live.
No pay-to-rank
Positions in buying guides can’t be bought.
No stale advice
Guides are checked again for every major sale and price change.
No hidden links
Affiliate links and sponsorships are always disclosed.
No mystery units
We note when a product was provided by the brand.
[ 05 ] Review units
What happens after the review.
Some products are bought by us, some are loaned or provided by brands. After testing, products are returned if the brand asks, kept for future comparisons, given away in our weekly community giveaways, or sold as clearly labelled open-box units through Geekman Unbox.
None of this affects the verdict. A product we keep is judged exactly like one we return. Read the full rules in our editorial policy and affiliate disclosure, or see the results in our buying guides and reviews.
[ 06 ] FAQ
Questions, answered.
How long does Geekman test a product?
Usually 7 to 14 days of daily use before a full review. Launch-day first looks are labelled as first impressions, and we follow up with a full verdict later.
Do brands pay for Geekman reviews?
Some videos are sponsored and clearly labelled. Payment buys coverage, never the verdict. Brands do not see or approve our opinion before publishing.
Why do your buying guides change?
Prices in India move fast, especially around big sales. We revisit guides regularly and replace picks when something better or cheaper arrives.
Can I suggest a product to test?
Yes. Email support@geekman.in or comment on our latest YouTube video. Popular requests often become videos.
